Community Safety Outreach Program

Community Safety Outreach Program

San Franciscans live in one of the world’s most at-risk seismic zones, placing a special responsibility on those who live here—as well as local, state and federal agencies—to take steps to prepare for major seismic events.

This program increases disaster preparedness by providing free seismic safety outreach and education to San Francisco’s diverse cultural and multilingual communities. As part of this program, CYC:

  • Provides community outreach, trainings, and workshops to residents, youth, seniors, businesses, and merchants
  • Builds working partnership with other community-based organizations and city departments
  • Engages in community fairs and events
  • Develops solution-driven recommendations to create “disaster prepared” communities

CYC runs this program in the following San Francisco Supervisorial Districts:

  • District 1 – Richmond
  • District 2 – Marina
  • District 5 – Western Addition
  • District 6 – South of Market/Tenderloin
  • District 8 – Castro/Noe Valley
