Association of Asian American Bankers (AAAB) teach youth key financial skills

Youth from CYC workforce development programs—Job Readiness for English Language Learners (JRELL) , Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP), and Young Adult Worklink (YAWL)—had the opportunity to attend a finance workshop led by the Association of Asian American Bankers (AAAB) on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The workshop focused on essential financial literacy topics such as budgeting, saving, and building good credit, along with various ways to pay for college and manage student loans. These foundational skills are critical for young people as they prepare for their future and plan their financial independence.

Youth gained a deeper understanding of financial concepts through interactive small group sessions, where they engaged directly with an AAAB banking professional. These breakout sessions offered more personalized advice, allowing the youth to ask questions specific to their financial situations and get tailored advice on managing money.

We are incredibly grateful to AAAB members Alice Huang, Brenda McNutty, Dora Lau, Fanny Wan, Henry Kiang, Marco Chan, and Stuart Keirle for volunteering their time and expertise to help our youth develop skills to make informed financial decisions.
