The Chinatown Halloween Festival is coming soon

The Chinatown Halloween Festival at Waverly Place is always an exciting annual event, celebrating the spirit of Chinatown and the joyous season of fall. Whether you’re painting pumpkins, collecting treats, or enjoying the performances, this year’s 10th annual Festival promises fun and good memories for everyone.

This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, October 26, from 11 am to 3 pm, with a lineup of activities that cater to all ages:

  • Pumpkin Painting: Unleash your creativity with our pumpkin painting station. Whether you prefer scary faces or intricate designs, your pumpkin will be a festive masterpiece.
  • Scary Room: Step into our Scary Room—spooky enough to thrill without being too frightening. It’s a gentle nod to the Halloween spirit that’s perfect for younger visitors.
  • Trick-or-Treat Lane: Dress up in your Halloween best and wander down Trick-or-Treat Lane where local merchants will be handing out treats (no tricks!).
  • Pumpkin Patch: Pick the perfect pumpkin from our patch. It’s a great photo opportunity and a chance to find your new favorite autumn decoration.
  • Carnival Games, Balloon Animals, and Photobooth: Enjoy classic carnival games, twist up some fun with balloon animals, and capture the day’s memories with snapshots from our photobooth.
  • Lion Dances: Experience the traditional Lion Dance, a highlight of Chinatown events, performed by LionDanceMe, bringing good luck and prosperity.

And the fun begins even before the festival itself. Our Costume Photo Contest is open, to show off your most creative, funny, or scary costumes and compete for prizes. This year’s theme is “Monsterland.” Also, more than 30 merchants are offering stamps you can use to win prizes on the big day. (Prizes are first come, first served, while supplies last.) Get your stamps at any of the local merchants listed on our event page starting October 1, and show up at the festival to win.

This Halloween event is the fourth of our annual Waverly Place festivals each year, following on the heels of the Chinatown Spring Festival, Chinatown Summer Festival, and food-filled Craving Chinatown. These gatherings serve as invaluable platforms for community interaction, fostering a sense of belonging and pride among Chinatown residents, and bringing tourists and visitors to the area.  By bringing together local families, merchants, and cultural groups, these events help to sustain the vibrant, diverse tapestry of Chinatown.

A huge thank you goes out to our sponsors, the Office of Economic & Workforce Development/Invest in Neighborhoods and our title sponsor Zoox, whose support makes this event possible. We also extend our gratitude to our partners, the Chinatown Merchants Association and the Chinatown YMCA, for their collaboration in bringing the community together.

See you on Waverly!
