Richmond Community Hub opening its doors to youth and families

CYC  is proud to announce the opening of the Richmond Community Hub, a new focal point for community engagement and youth empowerment in San Francisco’s Richmond District. The official opening ceremony is set for August 10, 2024, promising to be a vibrant showcase of the Hub’s potential impact on the local community.

Located at 952 Clement Street, the Richmond Community Hub has been established to serve as a central access point for educational and employment opportunities, particularly for young people, low-income adults, and seniors. The facility is designed to strengthen the social fabric of the neighborhood through a range of culturally and linguistically tailored programs.

A new chapter for the Richmond

The Hub’s opening marks a significant milestone in CYC’s longstanding commitment to supporting the Richmond community. “For over three decades, we’ve witnessed the evolving needs of this neighborhood. The Richmond Community Hub is our response to those needs—a place where local families can find support, resources, and a community committed to their success,” stated Sarah Wan, CYC Executive Director.

The state-of-the-art facility features a technology academy, counseling spaces, and areas for workforce development programs. It is also equipped with a rooftop that not only provides a serene setting for community gatherings but also aligns with the city’s green initiatives.

Celebrating community and culture

The grand opening event will invite the community to explore the various services offered at the Hub, including technology training for seniors and educational workshops for youth. Cultural performances, interactive workshops, and tours of the facility will highlight the day’s festivities, underscoring the Hub’s role in fostering community ties and cultural pride.

Leadership and support

The project has received robust support from local government and community leaders, including Mayor London Breed and Assemblymember Phil Ting, who have both championed the Hub as a crucial development for the Richmond District. The initial funding to purchase the building was made possible with the help of Mayor Ed Lee, whose commitment to community initiatives laid the foundation for this vital resource.

CYC’s new facility is a vibrant hub where every individual’s potential can be nurtured and supported. We welcome the neighborhood, who in turn we know will welcome the Richmond Community Hub as a cornerstone of community life, promising positive outcomes for generations to come.
