Statement on Richmond Office Break-In
As many of you have seen on the news, the CYC office on Clement Street was burglarized this week, with thieves stealing electronics and over $5,000 worth of gift cards that we were about to pass out to youth in our community to shop for back-to-school supplies.
First and foremost, we are thankful that no one was physically injured in this incident.
We’re also grateful by the outpouring of concern and support from so many of you who have contacted us this week asking how you could help. Your generosity raised money to cover the cost of the stolen items and of repairing the locks and gate. We deeply appreciate your support and so do our youth who will still receive gift cards to purchase school supplies.
Even though this incident is disheartening, it doesn’t put a damper on our enthusiasm and commitment to serve the community, especially at-risk and underserved youth and families.
P.S. If you’d like to keep up to date with our work in the community, please sign up for our newsletter.
Warmly,
Sarah Wan
